• Complimentary Consultation

As part of my personalised service, I offer a complimentary consultation. During the consultation you and your fiancé taste your chosen cake flavours. We will also discuss your theme, colour palette, flowers, dress, venue etc. I believe it’s the only way to get to know the couple’s individually, and showcase their personality in their cake. We will then explore various styles before designing and sketching your own special cake. If you are looking for a comprehensive design service with a boutique feel, no matter what your style preferences or priorities are, contact Caroline.

  • Tiers

The number and size of the cake tiers is generally decided on by the number of guests you would like to serve. Click here for serving suggestions. Another option is to have some artificial or false tiers, especially if you are having personalised tiers that you may like to keep or you may want a statement cake of several tiers. To create height in your cake, you may choose to have taller tiers, rather than an extra cake tier.

  • Style and Colour

As the design and style of the cake is personally unique to each couple, I suggest you bring anything that you would like incorporated or that will help when designing your special cake. Such items could include: swatch of material, ribbon, images of your wedding dress and flower type etc. The trend is towards rustic and naked cakes with fresh flowers, greenery or berries. Coloured fondant is also trendy and can be coloured to your palette, an example is the blackboard effect. See examples of such styles in the Portfolio

  • Flowers & Edible Features

I would recommend using handmade sugar crafted flowers. They will look fresh and real throughout the day and can be reused on other cakes long after your wedding. If you are using fresh flowers, talk to your florist about the flowers that are suitable. Some flowers will not hold for long out of water and many flowers may not be available for your wedding as they are seasonal. As part of our service we will liaise with your florist if using fresh flowers.

  • Flavour of Cake

The taste is every bit as important as the design if not more. We recommend you have a variety of cake flavours to cater for all your guests. Older guests will prefer fruit, children will prefer chocolate and younger guests often like to try something a bit different. We are happy to cater for all dietary requirements, just ask! Some of our cakes do contain nuts. Click here to see our list of cake flavours and fillings.
