A Wedding Cake at Mount Druid

A Wedding Cake at Mount Druid

The lovely Couple – Caroline & Gerard

Reunited after 17 years since school! Ger is a farmer and Caroline is happily adapting to agricultural life. Caroline and Ger wanted their day and wedding cake to reflect their laid back lifestyle.wedding cakes dublin

The Wedding Cake

The wedding cake was important to Caroline and Ger as both families loved cake and it was really important that the cake tasted delicious. They wanted a simple, understated cake, that looked elegant and was in keeping with Mount Druid. Caroline and Ger opted for the semi-naked cake style, whereby the sponge layers can be seen, but is more structured that the more rustic naked cake. Caroline and Ger loved the idea of incorporating the autumn feel and colours into the cake but we were careful not to make it look too Christmasy. Copper beech branches and leaves trailed the front and side of the table. We also included pine cones, beech nuts and burgundy colours from cut fruit and berries with some fresh flowers to remind us it was a wedding cake after all.wedding cakes dublin
Here is the finished product and the flavours included spiced orange cake with orange buttercream, chestnut cake with salted caramel buttercream and pecan & maple cake with crunchy pecan praline buttercream.wedding cakes dublin

The Agricultural theme

The agricultural relaxed theme continued throughout the day and also influenced their table plan for sure – beef breeds!

The Venue

Caroline & Ger, both loved Mount Druid for its alternative theme and laid back atmosphere and owners.

The Flowers

They were blessed with a summers day at Halloween! The flowers had a harvest theme and lavender was included (to help calm nerves). Dried Barley was scattered around the venue with pumpkins and gourds. Lavender was also in the bouquets.

The Bride, Groom & Wedding Party;

Caroline wore a fabulous off white wedding gown with lace detailing. Gerard’s suit was burgundy in keeping with the time of year and the colour scheme, it was also a change from the usual tweeds and blues. He stood out from his boys who were in navy.

The Bridesmaids dresses were slate grey and the flowers were chosen to compliment the venue and harvest agricultural relaxed theme.wedding cakes dublin

A big thank you to Caroline and Ger for asking me to make and design their wedding cake. It was a pleasure to work with you both. Wishing them a happy and healthy further together.

All the Best,

Caroline x
