A Wedding Cake at Royal Hospital Kilmainham
Meet the Lovely Couple – Ciara & Paddy
Ciara and Paddy were married in September 2015 at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. When I met with Ciara and Paddy for their consultation earlier in the year, I knew they wanted something a bit different. Choosing Royal Hospital Kilmainham as their venue was part of this choice, but it did mean they had to organise a lot themselves. A great job they did.
The ceremony, drinks reception and dinner were all held at the venue. With a turnaround from the ceremony to the dance floor after the meal.
The Dress, The Bridesmaids and The Groomsmen
The dress, was a gorgeous lace with low cut back line and long flowing veil. The bridesmaids wore an almost Art Deco style gowns in black with silver beading. The groomsmen wore navy suits and looks like they would have been happy in any colour as long as they were there to support Paddy.
The Wedding Cake;
Ciara and Paddy loved the idea of a contemporary cake with various textures, and really wanted to incorporate the silver colour as it was one of their feature colours on the day. We fleshed out some designs and came up with a cake that had these sugar shards on the base, a silver metallic sequins layer, a textured geometric shape on a taller middle tier and lastly the top tier was a little more free flowing with some silver brush strokes. All topped off with a silver ‘love’ topper.
The Cake Flavours;
The cake flavours included chocolate with Guinness and hazelnut rum mousse. Carrot, walnut and orange and lemon as the middle tiers. On top, a small tier of purple velvet (which includes blackberry, elderberry and vanilla cream cheese icing) just for Ciara and Paddy to share together.
It was a pleasure working with Ciara and Paddy, they were a such a lovely couple and thank you again for asking me to make and design your wedding cake.
