A Wedding Cake at the Royal College of Physicians
Meet the Lovely couple – Eimear and Will
Eimear (Irish) and Will (English) live in London and decided to come to Ireland and get married in the Royal College of Physicians. Eimear a writer for Martha Stewart Weddings and author of the book, Bridesmaids had seen it all. She wanted something simple, understated, yet elegant. Where better to celebrate they big day, than in the heart of Dublin City and stopping off en route from the ceremony to have a Guinness at Kehoe’s pub before their reception at the Royal College of Physicians, steeped in literary and academic history.
The Colour Scheme & The Dress;
As Eimear had seen it all while writing for Martha Stewart Weddings, she wanted something simple. She choose a white and green colour scheme, a colour combination that is becoming increasing popular. Her dress, too was sophisticated and elegant but steered clear of tulle and lace.
The Flowers & The Stationary;
The flowers were provided by Patsie and Claire at The Informal Florist and they included an array of white and greens. While their stationary was cleanly printed without a trace of stylised calligraphy.
The Wedding Cake;
The cake too had clean lines, was elegant and contemporary with fresh rosemary placed around the base to incorporate the colour scheme here also and framed the cake. It was positioned in the centre of the reception area as their guests climbed the stairs and entered the hall with its high ceilings, portrait paintings and over sized fireplaces. If you look closely you’ll see a small silver shoe on top of the cake. This was also used on Eimears grandmothers wedding cake. I love the sentiment of the shoe, as tiny as it seems, it had a huge impact. I think in the image below, Eimear and Will are addressing her Granny, and you and see from the photo just how much she means to both of them.
The flavours of Eimear and Will’s tiers were, fruit cake with whiskey almond paste, chocolate biscuit cake and lime and coconut cake.
Thank you so much again Eimear and Will for asking me to be part of your special day.
